Our Ultimate Bridesmaid’s Checklist
He finally puts a ring on your best friend and voila: Congratulations, You’re a Bridesmaid! Getting asked to be a bridesmaid is a huge honor for every girl or sometimes even a guy. It allows you to be a part of the celebration of a lifetime for two people whom you love and appreciate.
However, as much as you would love to be an amazing attendant for your friend or sister or cousin, fulfilling your duties is going to be no easy feat. Being a bridesmaid is like receiving an unpaid internship with long hours and sometimes a seriously finicky boss. But! With the right planning and a smidge of patience, you can make it work.
Here are a few pointers for your bridesmaid’s checklist that make the job easier:
-
Make time
As mentioned earlier, being a bridesmaid is a lot similar to being on a job but with taffeta linings, cake tastings and empire waist lined gowns. So, it’s going to take some time off your schedule but it’s going to be absolutely fun. Make a little time for your bridesmaid duties and try to be there for as many pre-nuptial rituals as you can.
-
Be specific
Even though we all try our very best to be there for every pre-wedding routine, due to our super- packed timetables, there is no way this is going to happen. The trick to deal with this? Be specific. Openly discuss your schedule with your friend and try to work in as many events as you can into it. Show up for all the rituals you agree to attend, be it her first fitting or the wedding band shopping. After all, that’s what you signed up for!
-
Throw a Shower
The route to a bride’s heart goes through a spectacular Bridal Shower. Coordinate with the Maid of Honor, the Mother of Bride and other attendants to finalize the date, time and venue of the event. You can hold the shower at the wedding venue itself to test out a dry run. Or, if the venue is not settled, book the event at a great marriage banquet to further ease your friend’s wedding venue hunt. Our team at Mirage would be happy to assist with all the aspects of your planning.
-
Maintain a List
This is a crucial element on your bridesmaid checklist. Maintain a list of all the duties assigned to you. Keep a record of the gifts received during the bridal shower and act as an auxiliary hostess during the wedding.
However, your duties extend beyond these lists. A bride needs constant reassurance and a sound boarding to rely on. Try to assess her needs beforehand and give objective opinions when asked. Brownie points for holding her hair through the bachelorette party and satisfying those midnight pizza cravings!
-
Prepare the Oops Kit
There is no replacement for an Oh Shit Kit. Prepare a small set of supplies to accompany you throughout the wedding day:
-
Tissues
-
Safety Pins
-
Breath Mints
-
Bandages
-
Antacid
-
Lip Balm
-
Powder
-
Comb
-
Nail Polish
Add these points to your ultimate bridesmaid’s checklist to ensure an accident and drama free wedding day for your friend.
